What’s New in the Software Realm

“Technology, like art, is a soaring exercise of the human imagination”
—Daniel Bell
We live in a fast-paced digital age where not a day goes by without something exciting or dangerous happening on the World Wide Web. Technology is a combination and harmonious working of hardware and software. It’s an example of how a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Powerful hardware, without the right software is useless, and vice versa. Today, let’s take a look at some of the top software stories from firms around the globe.
1. iPhone X Software Freeze to Be Fixed With Update
Apple has acknowledged that some of their latest flagship models are freezing in cold weather. Users are reporting that in thin air the keyboard becomes unresponsive or the phone restarts automatically. Owners have complained that the problem occurs most often when they move outdoors from warmer climate.
The issue was addressed through an email sent by the company to CBC News. Apple accepted that the problem has been reported from users and will be fixed using a software update soon.
2. Software Failure Freezes More Than $152 Million in Cryptocurrency
Ethereum, a Bitcoin rival trading in the cryptocurrency ether saw a third party app by Parity Technologies have its code deleted by a developer. As a result, almost $152 million dollars worth of digital currency was frozen in Parity wallets provided by it. The company has been proactive about talking to its customers regarding the issue and resolving it as soon as possible.
The company and its app is not owned by the Ethereum Foundation (EF), however, the head of security for EF said that the only way that the funds could be released is by using a hard fork, i.e. a system upgrade.
3. Tesla Is Being Branded as a ‘Software’ Company
The Elon Musk founded tech giant is revolutionizing some of the basic things we’ve been using for decades. Products like cars, solar tiles, Hyperloop etc. However, they’re being recognized for two importantly for major breakthroughs in software, i.e., self driving and factory automation. Tesla is taking these modules to another level by coming up with incredible innovations in these two systems that are both reliable and ahead of the competition.
4. A New AI Software Writes Papers for You
With the rapid advent of technology we are witnessing wonders every day. Recently a company called sciNote LLC. announced that it had developed a new software called the ‘Manuscript Writer.’ Based on artificial intelligence, the software goes through your scientific research and then writes it down it researchpaper format. Obviously, it doesn’t write the discussion because that involves personal ideas of the researcher. However, the concept, which by the way has still not been widely tested, is amazing considering the possibilities it can put forward.
There is so much happening in the digital arena that it is hard to summarize all the events and breakthroughs in one place but with major companies coming up with state of the art products, keeping a look out for major developments is important now more than ever.
